Using Essential Oils to Treat ADHD/ADD..
Avoid the side effects and enjoy better results!
ADHD is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity, or a combination
Rub 3-4 drops of Vetiver Oil or Patchouli Oil on bottoms of feet and on spine area
Typical Applications
Apply 3-4 drops of vetiver to a child’s back or the bottom of their feet using a carrier oil immediately following a shower and prior to bed time. With experience combine vetiver with a balancing, uplifting, or relaxing blend to enhance the help. The synergistic combination with a single oil such as lavender, ylang ylang or clary sage will also be effective.
Application has also historically proven helpful through the olfactory system (inhalation). Prepare a tissue cup or inhaler to be used when anxiety or other symptoms of ADHD are felt.

Standard medical treatments can result in side effects such as: restlessness or tremor; anxiety or nervousness; headache or dizziness; insomnia; diarrhea or constipation; stomach pain; increased blood pressure; psychosis (abnormal thinking or hallucinations); cardiac arrhythmia; mood swings are the most common side effects.
Its well worth trying a natural, organic, essential oil treatment first- along with the behavior therapy listed below-before having to resort to medications that can cause such drastic side effects.
BEHAVIOR THERAPY
Both before and after a child is diagnosed, there is stress on the family. Families can experience blame, anger, and frustration. Talk therapy for both the child and family can help everyone overcome these feelings and move forward.
Parents should use a system of rewards and consequences to help guide their child’s behavior. It is important to learn to handle disruptive behaviors. Support groups can help you connect with others who have similar problems.
Other tips to help your child with ADHD include:
- Communicate regularly with the child’s teacher.
- Keep a consistent daily schedule, including regular times for homework, meals, and outdoor activities. Make changes to the schedule in advance and not at the last moment.
- Limit distractions in the child’s environment.
- Make sure the child gets a healthy, varied diet, with plenty of fiber and basic nutrients. (fresh fruits & veggies -avoid white flour)
- Make sure the child gets enough sleep.
- Praise and reward good behavior.
-
Provide clear and consistent rules for the child.

TESTIMONIAL
I have a fantastic testimony to share! My best friend’s son (6) suffers from ADHD. He is on medication. He is an adorable, loving, great kid…with a ton of energy & has a very difficult time focusing. He has always had a difficult time falling asleep & sleeping well. I gave his Momma a sample of Lavender & Vetiver & FCO to apply to the bottom of his big toes at bedtime, in hopes of him getting some wonderful sleep to allow his body & brain some MUCH NEEDED REST. It worked immediately!! It has been just over 2 weeks of use & he is having amazing results. In the beginning, she would apply it a few times before he zonked out, but now, one “swipe” & he’s good. (He likes to puff his covers after he gets tucked in so he can waft the smell…LOL!) He has had awesome behavioral improvements at school…only one color change in 2 weeks! (The equivalent of having your name on the board). His teacher is so proud of him (we all are)! He told me he loves his “new night-night medicine”! Isn’t this just WONDERFUL?!
